We are delighted to announce that 3R Energy’s Douglas West & Dalquhandy DP Renewable Energy Project has been consented by the South Lanarkshire Council. Energised Environments are proud to have supported 3R Energy in their successful application and acted as EIA project manager and technical lead and author to several of the Environmental Statement chapters. The planning application was determined in 4 months which is a great achievement for everyone involved.
The development comprises 15 wind turbines of up to a maximum tip blade of 126.5m (around 3MW each) and a Wood Fuel Drying Facility, located approximately 11 km south west of Lanark and 1.6 km north of Douglas in rural South Lanarkshire. The Wood Fuel Drying Facility will use the electricity produced on site by the wind turbines and provide locally sourced employment for 10 to 15 staff. The site is part of a former opencast coal mine and is therefore by its nature well located, remote from surrounding villages and isolated dwellings and benefits from direct access from the M74 motorway.
