Sandy Knowe Wind Farm – Burcote Wind

25 March 2016

Sandy Knowe

We are pleased to announce that Burcote Wind’s Sandy Knowe Wind Farm has been consented by Dumfries and Galloway Council. Energised Environments Limited is proud to have supported Burcote Wind in its successful application, acting as EIA project manager and technical lead on several of the Environmental Statement chapters.

The development comprises 24 wind turbines with a blade tip of up to 125 m. Located approximately 1.7 km south west of Kirkconnel and Kelloholm in Dumfries and Galloway, Sandy Knowe Wind Farm will bring a community benefit of up to £240,000 per year over its 25 year life and is expected to generate approximately 183 GWh per annum, enough to cover the annual electricity consumption of approximately 42,890 Scottish households and save 85,072 tonnes of CO2 per year, providing a significant contribution to Scotland’s objective to develop a lower carbon economy.
